Shirt care

The GERMENS shirts have removable, metal collars. They are made from stainless steel and can withstand water. Nonetheless, it is advised that you remove them before washing to avoid causing damage to the shirt itself, other shirts and / or the washing machine.
For the blouses and the leisure shirts we recommend that you unbutton them (also the cuffs). This facilitates ironing the shirts. It is easier to unbutton the shirts when they are dry, instead of when they are wet. When putting the shirts into the machine it advised that you close the collar button and put up the collar. Like this you can avoid getting a stained collar.
Washing machine
It is advised to only wash shirts / blouses with each other. 7 to 9 pieces at 30 to 40 degrees Celsius (86 °F to 104°F) will achieve the best washing results. Like this, the washing machine is only half full.
If possible do not wash any other materials or pieces of clothing with the shirts / blouses. Washing them separately reduces the risk of wrinkling the shirts, which makes ironing them easier. If possible, use a care program on your washing machine and avoid washing with a high number of revolutions.
It is important to wash white, dark and colored shirts / blouses separately from each other. For white shirts / blouses we recommend universal laundry detergent, whilst laundry detergent specifically for colored clothing is favorable for the colorful shirts. Please avoid using products that contain chlorine.
HAND WASH
Please also separate the shirts when washing by hand. For white shirts / blouses we recommend universal laundry detergent, whilst laundry detergent specifically for colored clothing is favorable for the colorful shirts.
For difficult to remove stains we recommend using ox-gall soap. Wet the spot, apply some ox-gall soap and then wash the shirt. The shirts should not be washed above 40 degrees Celsius (104°F).
CHEMICAL CLEANING
You can also have your GERMENS shirts cleaned at any professional cleaning service.
DRY
After washing the shirts, it is recommended that you quickly hang the shirts / blouses to let them dry. Firmly shake the shirts, place them on a coat hanger and let them dry. Please do not use wooden coat hangers. Due to the humidity, it is possible for brown spots to form on the shirts.
Pull down the button tap to straighten the shirt a bit. This makes ironing it easier.
GERMENS shirts / blouses can also be dried in a dryer, if done at a low temperature and a low number of revolutions.
IRONING
It is best to start ironing the shirts at the collar and the cuffs. Afterwards you can start ironing the arms, front and back and the shoulders.
It is recommended to use steam ironing.

Please only hang fully dried shirts / blouses into the wardrobe.
